Human Interleukin-2 (Carrier-free)
Human Interleukin-2 (Carrier-free)
Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is one of a family of polypeptides that mediates interactions between leukocytes. It is a T-cell growth factor. It stimulates proliferation and enhances function of other T-cells, natural killer (NK) cells and B-cells. IL-2-activated B-cells generate secretory rather than membrane-associated IgM, and macrophages gain maturity and elaborate transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) when stimulated with IL-2.
IL-2 is a small 15.5-kDa four α-helical bundle cytokine, which has been one of the most studied cytokines since its discovery. It is produced by antigen simulated CD4+ T cells, while it can also be produced by CD8+ cells, natural killer (NK) cells, and activated dendritic cells (DC). Human IL-2 is recombinant protein optimized for use in cell culture, differentiation studies, and functional assays, and possesses the same biological properties as naturally occurring IL-2.
