Recombinant Protein A

Protein A is a cell wall protein derived from Staphylococcus aureus. This protein exhibits unique binding properties for the Fc region of IgG/antibodies from a variety of mammalian species as well as some IgM and IgA, and diverse recombinant antibody fragments and constructs retaining a binding region. It also couples to a wide variety of reporter molecules including fluorescent dyes, enzyme markers, biotin, colloidal gold and radioactive iodine without affecting the antibody binding site. In addition, Protein A can be immobilized on a solid support, such as agarose or acrylic beads, to purify immunoglobulins/antibodies. It can also be used in immunoprecipitation assays.

Storage

Store at 4°C if entire vial will be used within 5 weeks. Store, frozen at -20°C . After reconstitution in distilled water or saline, aliquot and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
