Fibroblast Growth Factor-Basic (FGFb) – 25ug Package

Fibroblast Growth Factor-Basic (FGFb) is a member of the FGF family of 23 related proteins known to be involved in angiogenesis, wound healing, embryonic development and differentiation, and neuronal function and neural degeneration. As a family, they bind to heparin and signal through four receptor tyrosine kinases called FGFR1, 2, 3, and 4. FGFb stimulates the proliferation of cells of mesodermal origin and many cells of neuroectodermal, ectodermal and endodermal origin.
When added to cell culture media, FGFb is capable of maintaining human stem cells long term in feeder and feeder-free conditions. As such, stem cells will remain in an undifferentiated state in the expansion and maintenance phase until later when differentiation to various types of cells is triggered by adding various combinations of growth factors.
MicroProtein Technologies (MPT) Fibroblast Growth Factor-Basic (FGFb) is produced using MPT’s novel and innovative E. coli based solid media platform, MPTxpress. The final product is a Pro143-Ser288, non-glycosylated protein containing 146 amino acids and is Animal Component Free (ACF).
